National Volunteers Week

The coming week is National Volunteer's Week in Australia. VERA would like to encourage all to post a thank you to the volunteers who make our sport possible. Our rides are run totally by volunteers who give their time freely to organise and run the rides that we all enjoy.

The SMC would like to express our deep gratitude to all our volunteers including our Ride Organisers, track markers, checkpoint people, TPRs, Chief Stewards, pencillers, ride secretaries, date entry people, track markers, weighing stewards, swabbing steward, FB Moderators, Web Master, Logbook Registrar, Membership Registrar, Pointscore Registrar, Grievance Officer, Disciplinary Panel members, emergency float drivers and anyone else who contributes to our events.

And, on behalf of the members, I'd like to express my thanks to the SMC members, both past and current, who manage the sport and put in a lot of hard yards that are often unseen.

Next VERA Meeting

The next VERA SMC meeting will be held on 20 February 2021. This was originally planned as a face-to-face meeting at Quest Caroline Springs but this has now been modified to a virtual meeting. If anyone wishes to attend this meeting please contact the VERA Secretary, Mezcal Manners.

Ride Approval

The VERA SMC have received and approve a ride application from the GERZ Committee.  They will be running the Emu Cup on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd October 2021.  Rides will be conducted on Sunday, 3 October with ride distances of 20, 40 and 80km.  The SMC would like to thank the GERZ committee for running two rides in 2021.  Great effort and wonderful support for our sport so please show your thanks by attending this ride.

SMC Portfolios

The VERA Management Committee meeting held its first meeting this week at which the task of allocating portfolios was undertaken.  Portfolios were allocated as follows:
